WHAT TO BRING TO YOUR NOTARY APPOINTMENT
Preparing ahead can help make your notarization quick and easy.
Please review this checklist before your appointment.
1. Valid Identification
Each signer should have acceptable identification available when required. Common examples include a valid state-issued driver's license or identification card, a U.S. passport, or another form of identification permitted under Florida law.
2. Your Complete Document
Bring the entire document that needs to be notarized, including all pages and attachments. Complete the document as much as possible, but do not sign ahead of time if the notarial act requires your signature to be witnessed. If you areunsure, leave the signature area blank.
3. All Required Signers
Anyone whose signature must be notarized should be present with their identification. If witnesses are required, confirm the requirements before the appointment. Depending on the document, you may be responsible for providing witnesses.
4. Know the Notarial Act You Need
Some documents require a specific notarial act, such as an acknowledgment or jurat. A notary can explain the difference between available notarial acts but cannot choose one for you or provide legal advice. If the document does not specify the act, contact the person, attorney, business, or agency that provided it.
5. Be Ready to Sign Willingly
The notary must be satisfied that the signer is properly identified, signing willingly, and aware of the general nature of the document. A notarization may not be completed if there are concerns about identity, willingness, or awareness.
For Loan Signing Appointments
• Have the identification requested by your lender, title company, or signing service.
• Follow any special instructions provided with your closing or loan package.
• Your Notary Loan Signing Agent can identify where signatures, dates, and initials are required, but cannot provide legal
or financial advice.
For Remote Online Notarization (RON)
• Computer or compatible device with a camera and microphone
• Reliable internet connection
• Acceptable identification
• Access to your email
• A quiet, well-lit location
• Your document in an acceptable electronic format
• Be prepared for additional identity verification required by the RON platform
